Portrait of Marco Catella

Marco Catella is a composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, whose music explores dramatic expression and universal human emotions through a language deeply rooted in the Western musical tradition.

His two-act chamber opera Prince Cnut, with a libretto by Juan E. Batalla, received its sold-out, fully staged world premiere in February 2026 at New York City's Theater at St. Jean, co-produced by Ex Corde and NYC Orchestra Project. The production brought together singers, instrumentalists, and a full creative team in a major realization of his dramatic work.

A co-founder and artistic director of Ex Corde, Catella has also premiered vocal compositions through the organization's concert programs, including To Night, a solo cantata setting poetry by Percy Bysshe Shelley, presented at Serenade: An Evening of Strings in September 2026.
